About Abigail
I have taught and tutored almost continuously since I graduated high school until right before the pandemic. I’ve taught and tutored from grades 2 and all the way up to remedial and lower level classes in college and just about every branch of math there is (including AP Calculus AB). The desire to teach comes from being good at math and wanting to share the little connections I’ve made in my head with others. I was a high school teacher for 6 years (1 year in public school, 5 years in private school), and a part time substitute for a year and a half (right before the pandemic). I understand how teachers think, and I understand what districts are asking for.

After teaching high school for six years (from grades 7 to 12 and some college prep/remedial classes), I’ve learned that the easiest way to teach mathematics is to explain why things work the way they do. Understanding is the best way to really learn math and that’s how I teach. I usually start off with just showing how things will go, then explain the theory behind it, then go over the steps again. I am also a firm believer in mathematics being easier the more you do it.
