About Reuben
Hello! My name is Reuben Anderson. I am a Year 12 student at The Latymer School studying A-Level Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Economics. Having achieved straight 9s in GCSE Maths and Sciences, I bring strong academic rigour and a genuine passion for science—particularly biology and medical research—into my teaching.
Beyond academics, music and sport play a huge role in my life. I am a violinist of 12 years and recently earned a Distinction in my ABRSM Grade 8 exam. In 2024, I spent the year volunteering with a Colourstrings junior orchestra, where I mentored children aged 5–10, tuned instruments, and co-conducted rehearsals. I also stay active by playing football for my local U18 team and training regularly.
These experiences have taught me patience, teamwork, and how to communicate complex ideas clearly. I am passionate about tutoring because I want to inspire confidence in younger students, help them tackle challenging concepts, and share my love for science and music.

I offer structured, highly engaging 1-hour sessions tailored to primary, KS3, and GCSE students in Maths, Sciences, and beginner Violin.
My teaching methodology for Maths and Science focuses on building deep understanding and exam confidence through structured, step-by-step guidance. Each session is tailored to the individual student's needs, targeting their specific weak spots and exam board specifications. The first half of the lesson consists of active teaching to break down complex concepts into digestible steps. We then transition into application, starting with guided, worked exam questions to build familiarity, followed by independent practice with my support. This combination of clear instruction, immediate application, and exam-style practice solidifies knowledge, refines exam technique, and boosts student confidence.
My approach to violin tuition centres on mastering key techniques—such as posture, bow hold, and note reading—in a fun and structured way. By combining technical exercises with accessible beginner pieces, I help students build solid fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of music.
As a Year 12 student at The Latymer School with straight 9s in GCSE Maths and Sciences—and an ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction violinist—I draw on recent exam success and a year of hands-on experience mentoring young musicians in a junior orchestra. I tailor every lesson to the student's individual pace, ensuring they feel supported, motivated, and equipped to achieve top results.
