• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I like reading books and have developed an interest in Literature at a younger age through story books. I somehow had an innate interest in teaching which I expressed through a teacher-student childhood game and when I reached my high school, I was determined to pursue that career in the future. Since I like literature, I chose the English language and literature for my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Thanks that I never regret my choice, as I learned to critically and creatively engage with life through this discipline and I realise that my passion met my profession here.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  I may have unknowingly been inspired by many during my childhood days to ignite this interest. Of course, I met a few dedicated teachers, who sustained this spark in me. I believe teaching is a profession that allows one to continuously grow, each class is unique and diverse. It is a profession where creativity and critical thinking play a crucial role.

• How does your work help society?

  I strongly believe quality education refines thoughts and creates a well-formed mind, which is crucial for the proper working of society.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  I realise that each one of us is unique and we have something to learn from everything around us. And to narrow down to one mentor for life is difficult.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  I love spending time with nature.
