About Beloved
Hi! My name is Hlengiwe, and I am a second-year Computer Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I have always enjoyed working with Maths and problem-solving, and I would love to help younger students become more confident in the subject.
I completed my matric in 2023 with an overall average of 84% and achieved 82% for Mathematics. I was also a Top Achiever at my school, finishing second overall, and received an award for placing second in my circuit.
Although I am new to private tutoring, I understand that every student learns differently. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students can ask questions without feeling embarrassed about making mistakes. My goal is not only to help students get the correct answer, but to help them understand the steps and reasoning behind it.
I mainly offer Maths tutoring for Grades 5–10 and can teach in English or isiZulu. Whether you need help understanding a difficult topic, practising questions, strengthening your foundations, or preparing for an upcoming test, I will work with you at your own pace.
I look forward to helping you build your confidence in Maths and discover that the subject can be much less intimidating with the right guidance.

My lessons are focused on helping students understand Maths rather than simply memorising formulas and procedures. I use a patient and supportive approach, explaining concepts step by step and adapting my explanations to each student's level and areas of difficulty.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student is struggling with, followed by a clear explanation of the concept and worked examples. We then solve questions together before the student attempts similar problems independently. I encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes, because understanding where a mistake comes from is an important part of learning.
My lessons are aimed primarily at Grade 5–10 students who want to strengthen their Maths fundamentals, improve their confidence, or get additional help with topics they find difficult. I can assist with areas such as arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry and general mathematical problem-solving.
I am proficient in English and isiZulu and can teach in either language depending on the student's preference. Lessons are available online, with the possibility of in-person lessons depending on location and availability.
