About Phares
I always tell my students and choir members that I take what I do very seriously, but I don’t take mySELF too seriously.
Translation: I am serious about imparting the techniques and practices in order to improve upon whatever they are studying, but also pride myself on making it fun and from a huge passion for facilitating a safe environment to build confidence and create reasonable goals together.

My passion in life, for over 40 years at this point, is to guide singers of all ages and abilities to sing with their unique and powerful voice.
I specialize in working with those living with neurological disorders and or diagnoses. From directing a choir of singers living with Parkinson’s disease to working with my healing choir to bring music to dementia wings and nursing homes, I have seen the power of music in reaching the hearts and souls of folks living with these diagnoses.
On the other end of the spectrum, I also thoroughly enjoy working with teens, especially if they are preparing auditions for music school or at their schools for choir or shows.
I am also trained as a circle singing leader by Bobby McFerrin and other master teachers in his circle. This has led me to develop a songwriting technique (with groups creating their own songs together - SongShaping)
