About Oscar
I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and understanding why mathematical methods work, and I can bring that same approach into my tutoring. I’m patient, approachable and happy to explain a concept in several different ways until it clicks.
I understand that maths can become frustrating when a student loses confidence or falls behind on a particular topic, so I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I prepare lessons around the individual student’s goals, whether that means improving core understanding, preparing for exams, working through difficult topics or aiming for the highest grades.
Above all, I want students to leave lessons feeling more confident in their own ability and with a clearer understanding of how to tackle problems independently.

My approach is centred around making the maths genuinely understandable rather than simply memorising methods. I break down difficult topics into smaller and understandable steps, explain the reasoning behind each method, and then work through examples until the student is confident applying it independently.
Lessons are tailored to each student. We can focus on topics they are currently struggling with, work through past paper questions, revision for upcoming exams, and also identify areas of struggle. I also like to encourage students to talk through their reasoning, as this makes it much easier to identify exactly where they are getting stuck.
A typical lesson would be around one hour, although this can be adjusted depending on the student and their needs.
I achieved an A* in A-Level Further Mathematics and now study Engineering Mathematics at the University of Bristol, giving me a strong mathematical background extending well beyond GCSE and A Level content.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A Level Maths students of all abilities, whether they are struggling with the subject, aiming to improve their grade, or looking for extra challenge and preparation for exams.
