About Wayne
I am Wayne Liang, a third-year undergraduate studying natural sciences at the University of Cambridge. I am interested in using mathematics to understand biological phenomena, especially those concerning ecology and evolution. During my A-levels, I always found the way maths is taught to be detached from intuition, and students were trained to use mathematics simply as a tool, without understanding what is going on. I do not believe this is helpful in understanding and hence actually using mathematics in the real world.

I believe that maths is better learnt through understanding the underlying concepts rather than memorising formulae. I would use some visualisation tools when possible, and focus more on derivations and sometimes proofs which are often absent in many A-level teaching.
