About Vivien
I'm an undergraduate mathematics student at the University Of Southampton with aspirations of becoming a maths teacher. I enjoy learning about pure maths and expanding previous knowledge of basic concepts. I understand that maths can often be really challenging, and at times off putting, but as a tutor I want to encourage and inspire students to make mistakes, as I believe without any setbacks there is no real motivation to do better.

A typical lesson would run as: -1 hour -Starting with outlining the objectives of the lesson, then reviewing past knowledge. Expanding on present knowledge and correcting any misconceptions, if the student has no previous knowledge I will explain the theory behind topics. -After an understanding is established I will demonstrate a model solution, and then alongside the student do guided questions until they're comfortable doing it themselves. I will also question student thinking as they're solving and encourage them writing steps on how to solve problems. -Lessons will have some time allocated for independent working and then feedback, ending the lesson with goals for the next session. Homework may be set.
