About Farbod
I am a UBC Science graduate (B.Sc. Computer Science and Microbiology & Immunology) with over five years of experience teaching science and math. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) program graduate with top marks in Chemistry and Biology, I have subject expertise and a strong academic foundation. I have worked with students across a wide range of age groups, helping them address foundational gaps and overcome challenges caused by a lack of earlier support. My approach helps students improve their grades but also empowers them to become confident, active learners with a deeper understanding of how to learn effectively.

As someone who has experienced the Canadian education system firsthand, I understand the challenges students face in mastering subjects like science and math. Often, students are not taught how to learn these subjects, how to build conceptual frameworks that make complex ideas easier to grasp and build upon. My teaching approach focuses on developing a deep, intuitive understanding of the subject matter, so much so that students feel confident explaining concepts to others. Once that foundation is in place, I reinforce learning through consistent and targeted practice to ensure fluency and high performance.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material, a discussion of any questions or difficulties, and a review of the assigned homework. We then move into the upcoming week’s material, concluding with customized homework to solidify understanding.
What sets me apart is my dedication to each student’s growth, not just academically, but in their ability to study and learn effectively. I work closely with students to develop habits that foster independent learning and long-term success. My tutoring is best suited for students in Grades 6 through first-year university.

Perfect! Farbod is patient and supportive, he always gives prompt responses, working extra miles with both his student and parents... He's caring and willing to find ways to work things out... Perfect! Farbod is an excellent tutor! I had the pleasure of receiving his help for both a lecture and lab component of a Chemistry course I was taking, and he was great in both. He is knowlegeable on the topics, very approachable, and promotes a mentality of understanding rather than memorizing concepts, which is a crucial mentality for any course. 10/10 would recommend!
