About Amna
Hi! I’m Amna, an undergraduate Law student at University College London (UCL), and I’m passionate about education and helping students achieve their academic goals.
My approach to tutoring is rigorous and structured. I believe that significant academic progress comes from intensive study, consistent practice and a thorough understanding of the subject, rather than simply memorising information. I work closely with students to identify gaps in their knowledge, challenge their understanding, and develop the analytical and exam skills needed to perform at their best.
I have experience tutoring students and enjoy breaking down difficult concepts while maintaining high academic standards. I tailor my teaching to each student, but I also encourage students to push themselves and develop the discipline and independence required for sustained academic success.
I look forward to working with students who are motivated to improve and helping them reach their full academic potential.

1 hour lessons:
I have several months of teaching and tutoring experience, alongside experience facilitating online educational courses and mentoring a student over the course of one year. These experiences have allowed me to develop a teaching approach that combines thorough preparation, structured learning and individualised support.
My tutoring experience has involved helping students develop their understanding of academic subjects, identify areas of difficulty and build confidence in their abilities. I have also spent one year mentoring a student, providing longer-term academic support and helping them work towards their goals over an extended period.
I also have experience facilitating online courses, including courses focused on AI governance, AI policy, safety and ethics. This has involved supporting learners through complex course material, encouraging participation and discussion, answering questions, and helping students engage critically with unfamiliar and interdisciplinary ideas. My experience in AI governance has given me particular expertise in explaining complex concepts relating to technology, regulation, policy and ethics.
My teaching methodology begins with my own preparation. Before teaching a topic, I thoroughly prepare the material so that I have a clear understanding of the subject, the key concepts students need to learn, and the areas where they may encounter difficulties. I then provide students with resources that they can use to consolidate and develop their understanding independently outside of lessons.
I take a rigorous and intensive approach to learning. Rather than simply giving students information, I aim to develop genuine subject understanding through explanation, questioning, discussion, application and independent study. I encourage students to engage actively with the material and gradually take greater responsibility for their own learning.
I also adapt my teaching according to the individual student, taking into account their existing knowledge, academic goals and areas of difficulty. While I tailor my approach to each student, I maintain high academic standards and encourage students to challenge themselves and work consistently towards improvement.
