About Naqiya

I was born in the US, grew up in Pakistan, went to college in California, and have lived and worked in 6 different countries, so I know how important a strong grasp on English can be as a way to connect people across geographies.

What I love about this language is its flexibility: it may not be the most poetic or the most difficult, but it is the most malleable, which allows you to show your own style and personality through it once you master it!

Given your goals, my aim will be not only to teach you the kind of English, writing, communication, or professional narrative building you want for your immediate needs, but also demonstrate some of the other ways you might want to use English outside of that context.

Looking forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

I understand that mastering something new can be intimidating because I've been there myself, and look forward to sharing my own learnings with my students.

My teaching style starts with an understanding of you as a student: your goals, past challenges, timelines, and the context in which you hope to be applying your skills. Starting with an assessment, I then develop tailored lesson plans designed to help you meet your goals within the time you've set for yourself.

A core aspect of my lessons is to make sure we are having fun together. In my experience, the stickiest learning happens when our guard is down, and we're truly enjoying what we're working on together, so my aim will be to bring a lightness to our work, without compromising on rigor.

I was certified to teach K-12 students, but have also worked with college and graduate students, and business professionals hoping to fine-tune their communication skills.
