About Matt
I'm Matt, a Mechanical Engineering graduate currently pursuing my master's degree at a top-tier university. My academic journey has given me a deep understanding of mathematics and physics, and I'm passionate about helping students achieve the same clarity and confidence I found in these subjects.
My Background & Qualifications:
• Mechanical Engineering Degree with strong focus on mathematics and physics
• Master's student at a top 50 university
• Teaching experience in first aid and coding for several years
• O/A Level expertise: Personal experience with IGCSE/A Level systems
Why I Teach:
I remember struggling with certain concepts during my own O and A Levels until the right explanation made everything click. That moment of clarity drives me as a tutor. I teach because I genuinely enjoy helping students transform confusion into confidence and exam anxiety into success. Teaching isn't just a side job, it's a passion. My engineering background helps me show the "why" behind formulas, making learning meaningful rather than just memorization.
My Approach:
I'm patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in your success. Your questions are never "stupid," and making mistakes during lessons is part of learning. Whether you're struggling with basics or aiming for top grades, I'll meet you where you are and help you reach your goals with clear explanations and systematic problem-solving.

As a Mechanical Engineering graduate, I break down complex maths and physics concepts into clear, simple steps. My approach focuses on understanding why, not just memorizing formulas.
• Real-world connections: Engineering examples make abstract concepts tangible
• Step-by-step problem solving: Learn frameworks that work for any problem
• Active learning: You practice while I guide—no passive listening
• Common mistake analysis: Learn what NOT to do to avoid exam errors

I have known Matt since highschool, and he was always passionate about Maths, especially when he was ahead most of the class and took Further Mathematics 1, 2 and 3 in A-level. If I ever needed help in a concept, he was always the one I’d go to first. Not only is he very clear and concise while teaching, but he was and is very patient. This carried on till university, where I still looked up to him in Mathematics and he had helped me tremendously: if I couldn’t understand a concept in one way, he will find a way to make you understand it.
I feel very hopeful about the students that study with him, and strongly believe they will get amazing results! Aside from his patience and knowledge in teaching, he is a very easy person to talk to!I’ve known Matt for quite a while, and I’ve had the chance to see firsthand how dedicated and reliable he is.
He has a very supportive and confidence-boosting teaching style. He takes the time to make sure concepts actually make sense, rather than rushing through them, and he’s great at adapting his explanations depending on who he’s helping. He’s approachable, encouraging, and genuinely wants people to succeed. I highly recommend Matt to other members of the Superprof community because he’s knowledgeable, trustworthy, and easy to learn from. Anyone who works with him will feel supported and motivated, and I’m confident he’ll be a great tutor for his students.I know Matt as someone who is passionate about providing the best explanations to an extent and helping others feel more confident in their learning. He is patient, clear, and structured thus making complex topics easier to understand. He explains concepts step by step and encourages questions, which helps to feel comfortable and supported rather than overwhelmed. I would recommend Matt to other Superprof members because he is reliable, approachable, friendly and committed to helping anybody to build a strong foundation, while gaining confidence in their abilities.
Matt is an incredibly friendly and patient person, who is quite considerate and tries to accommodate in situations he's able to. He's someone who is very apt at what he does and takes into consideration the people around him when he makes his decisions.
