About Tim
Hi! I'm Tim and I tutor maths, physics, chemistry and biology. I have a first class (hons) Maths degree from the University of Warwick and am currently training to become a doctor at the University of Southampton Medical School.
I offer private 1-1 tuition from KS2 to A-level. I also provide medical school application advice (personal statements, interview technique, UCAT) having received 4 out of 4 graduate entry medicine offers.
I have been tutoring maths A-level, GCSE and KS2/3, biology, chemistry, and physics GCSE and providing Oxbridge maths interview practice for two years. I also teach weekly peer learning sessions at the university covering new topics in medicine.
I taught myself AS level biology and chemistry in 3 months using a syllabus based approach in order to meet my offers for medical school.
I am on placement at the Royal Surrey Hospital for 2019/20 and can provide face to face tutoring in the Guildford area. I also offer online tuition.
I love sailing and being out on the water which is why I chose Southampton to study. I also like to travel and experience different cultures and languages - I speak Dutch, some French and am currently learning Spanish.

My approach is:
Results focused - my main goal is to help you get the best grade possible and help you fulfil your full potential
Collaborative – everyone learns differently so I aim to work together with students to find ways of tackling problems that suit their own strengths and weaknesses.
Confidence building – exams can be daunting, so my focus is on helping students build their confidence with the right preparation for them.
Syllabus specific – I tailor tutor sessions to the school or exam board syllabus to make sure students have the tools they need to attain their best potential grades.
Relaxed – there’s no such thing as a stupid question in a tutor session, it’s an environment where a student can learn at a pace that suits them.
