About Amanda
I have spent most of my career working with students in urban settings who are emerging or struggling readers. Through my low pressure humorous approach, I've successfully taught students how to read and find their confidence. My students were always the hardest working students in the classroom to the point where other students were begging to be a part of the lesson!

I feel my teaching method is cyclical, always coming back to the foundation of what we're learning. I'm a huge proponent of "I do, We do, You do" lesson styles where I teach a concept, we practice it until we all feel we have a grasp of the concept, and then you get to "show me what you learned!" I find joy in teaching elementary aged students how to read and write. But, I'm also passionate about helping high school students be the best writer they can be.
