About Ana
¡Hola a todos! My name is Ana and I am a graduate Spanish teacher.
During my PGCE year, I have undertaken two placements in different settings, which have provided me with an invaluable insight into different teaching styles and academic approaches. In the past, I have been a language assistant at 3 secondary schools in New Zealand and I have taught English full-time at a private academy in Madrid. In all of these places, I was a motivated teacher and always tried to potentiate cross-curricular links in the classroom. I have also worked as an activity leader in summer camps in the UK, where I worked with international teenagers who want to learn English. During university, I was a volunteer Spanish teacher at an NGO.
I try to plan and deliver my lessons so that every student is pushed to the highest of their abilities. I differentiate as many tasks in the lesson as possible and I pay special attention to predict, address and tackle misconceptions as early as possible, since I know through my own experience of learning English what students might struggle with.
The teachers I have worked with have highlighted the building of positive relationships with students and staff, even in a short period of time. I believe lessons should be a space all students want to be in, a safe space for everyone. It is my aim to combine my range of experiences with my enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to school.
