About Abyan
Hi! My passion lies in innovating creative solutions and creating content. Which is how I ended up earning an engineering degree while being an active member of my university's journalism society. I also love tutoring, which I first discovered when my friend asked me to join the peer tutoring society at school. I loved every time a concept or idea clicked for one of my students, and now that I have left school I want to keep tutoring.
I have earned an (A*) in A-Level Mathematics, O-Level Mathematics, and O-Level Additional Mathematics and an (A) in A-Level Further Mathematics. My tutoring experience includes tutoring my peers in mathematics during O- and A-Levels. My lessons are for every age and level from primary school to high school.

The goal is always to grow self-confidence within the student and train their intuition.
I like to start my lessons by running over the learning objectives, quizzing the student on their prior knowledge (if relevant), and establishing a plan for the lesson. Then for each topic I like to explain the concepts to the student in a different way to how they were taught elsewhere to ensure they understand it instead of just memorising. And after covering the concepts I go through example questions with the student.
My lessons are typically in 20 minute sessions with a 5-minute solo-study break after every 20 minutes.

Abyan tutored me in maths during my AS year. What I liked about his approach to tutoring was his ability to switch between 'mentoring' and 'coaching' roles, as he called it. That particular approach helped create a nice balance where I felt like he was letting me know I was capable of grasping the concept myself while being there to provide explanations if I ever needed them. I believe his background in tutoring and coaching have provided him with a great skillset.
