About Sierra
I am a senior Biology major, Chemistry minor. I will be attending graduate school to pursue my PhD in the natural sciences. I have been tutoring since I was a sophomore in high school. I began tutoring when I was in the national math honors society, as math is one of my favorite subjects. After that I began tutoring for math, biology and chemistry subjects for other student in my high school. I also started tutoring outside of schools including students with autism. I plan to use my PhD to pursue an academic field and teach.

I start off most of my tutoring lessons by assessing where the student is academically as well as where they currently are in the subject they need help in. Often times I start off using what material their teachers have provided to see what areas the student may be lacking understanding in and giving information. I like to put myself in the place of the student, while there may be times that I know how to teach a subject differently, I go based off the way the student is currently learning to avoid confusion. I never want my student to feel like what they don't understand is their fault, rather that they need more time to grasp the concepts. I believe every subject is understandable and that people may need different levels of information to learn a topic.

For tutoring K-5 I charge $12 an hour, and for grades 6-12 I charge $15.
