About Jed
Hi, my name is Jed Joo!
I'm an MHS (selective school) graduate, who, having aced English mainstream - I have maintained an A+ SAC average and scored full marks for all of my essays - is willing to teach students my approach to both VCE English and literature at large.
Interestingly, I wasn't always this confident in my English: Until year 11, I averaged C+ in my essays. But, with hard work and my distinct technique for writing essays and analysing texts, I managed to become the A+ student that I am today. With my technique that allowed me to full mark all of my essays, I predict, no, I guarantee, that you will be able to excel at English.
For the most part, I would say I have an energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate personality, and by extension, approach to teaching English. And I hope I can impart some of the passion I have for this subject, to my students.
I guarantee that I will dedicate my undivided attention to my student's goals, whether it be scoring high on an assignment, becoming a good writer, or maybe making English a little less arduous.
Beyond becoming purely an English tutor, I will ensure that I can be an appropriate mentor and friend for my students; one they can form deep connections with.

General
- Will provide a free trial lesson to evaluate students' goals, current understanding of their curriculum, and preferred style of teaching.
- Will tailor tutoring to students' curriculum.
- Hours for tutoring are negotiable. (1 hour to 3 hours per session)
- Can tutor online or in person (in the CBD).
- Is available to call or text at all times.
For VCE English Mainstream (45$ per hour)
- Will supply past exam papers, and selective-school teacher-approved A+ essays.
- Will read and provide analysis for set texts.
- Will check over, analyse, and suggest feedback for students' writing; clarity in vision, written expression, and textual understanding.
- Will teach students the most effective ways of analysing and constructing arguments. (Argument Analysis)
- Will provide students with a wide range of established reading material that will, at once, kindle an appreciation for literature and foster an effective writing style.
- Flexible: Will adapt to any assignment, SAC, or exam that students need assistance in preparing for.
- Lessons can range from analysing passages, reading over practice writing, and identifying key elements of successful essays.
- Will spend time outside designated tutoring hours to provide feedback, answer questions, and give general support.
For non-VCE English (20-30$ per hour -> pricing depends on grade)
- Will provide students with a wide range of established reading material that will, at once, kindle an appreciation for literature and foster an effective writing style.
- Will teach students effective ways of writing essays.
- Will provide feedback for any piece that students have to offer.
- Will teach students the most effective ways of analysing and constructing arguments.
