About Ciaran

I’m a qualified secondary history teacher with 8 years of expetience, 7 of which have been in the same school, where I’ve helped build a rigorous, well-sequenced curriculum across KS3, GCSE and A-Level. Though I am new to the superprof platform, I have several years experience of 1-1 tutoring both online and in students homes.

I’ve taught exam groups every year, led targeted interventions, and worked closely with SEN pupils, always tailoring lessons to suit individual needs.

Alongside teaching, I’ve marked for the OCR B GCSE exam board, giving me expert insight into what examiners look for. I understand the second order concepts that underpin exam success- like cause and consequence, change and continuity, evidence and interpretation- and how to teach them in a way that helps students write with precision and confidence. This is something that many non-teaching tutors can’t offer in the same depth.

My students consistently achieve strong results because lessons are focused, responsive, and grounded in the real demands of school life. Whether your child is aiming to secure a pass or stretch to the top grades, I’ll work with you to build a calm, structured plan that gets them there.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, and I never use a one-size-fits-all approach. Over the past 8 years, I’ve planned full KS3, GCSE and A-Level history curriculums from scratch with my department, so I know how to shape learning around each student’s needs and goals, whether they’re aiming for a pass or pushing for top grades.

In our sessions, I can focus on whatever’s most useful for the student:

Recapping tricky content with clarity and context

Sharpening exam technique and boosting confidence under pressure

Responding directly to school feedback and reports

Building a clear, personalised revision programme that evolves with progress

I’ve worked with pupils of all abilities, including those with SEN, and always tailor each session to meet them where they are. Whether it’s strengthening core knowledge, practising timed answers, or tackling feedback head-on, I’ll make sure every session is purposeful and progress-focused.

I had ciaran as a tutor when I was going through my GCSEs. He always made sure to check if I needed extra help in certain areas and go over whatever I wasn’t confident in multiple times until it stuck. I ended up doing very well in my exams so I couldn’t recommend him enough ️

I’d highly recommend Ciaran as a tutor. He worked with my child on their history studies, and the difference he made was clear from the start.

Ciaran has a calm, approachable way of explaining things that really helped build my child’s confidence. He made the subject far more engaging and manageable, and always tailored the sessions to suit their pace and needs.

He was reliable, professional, and easy to communicate with — everything you’d hope for in a tutor. Most importantly, my child felt supported and motivated, which had a real impact on both their understanding of the subject and their attitude toward learning.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ciaran to other parents looking for a trustworthy and effective history tutor.
