About Maryann
Approaching science and maths exams at any level is daunting especially with how specific (and irritating) mark schemes can be, not only that but the content in and of itself is complex and can be discouraging. My aim is to break it all down and make it more accessible to students, to allow those struggling with concepts comfortable within them, and to help those stuck at grade plateaus break past those barriers.

I specialise in tutoring GCSE and A-Level Science and Maths (ages 14–18). Whether a student is struggling to keep up with class material, looking to build fundamental confidence, or aiming to push their grades up to top tier, my sessions are tailored to meet their specific goals across all major exam boards (especially AQA and Edexcel).
My teaching is centred on building deep conceptual understanding and mastering exam technique. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, digestible steps; and from there allowing students to create a unique framework to apply what works for them in exam contexts. To do so I use a few key techniques: targeted gap analysis, active learning, mark-scheme analysis, and paced past paper practice.
Standard Lesson Length: 60 minutes (90-minute sessions are also available for subject deep-dives).
Lesson flow will begin with a quick recap of previous material through discussion and practice questions. Then, the bulk of the lesson will be spent grappling the depths of the next topic and solving questions together in real time of said topic. And every few lessons, we would do a deep dive of the mark schemes to help the student achieve those 4+ mark questions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: A*BB in Biology, Maths, and Chemistry A level respectively. 8 in Physics, 8 in Chemistry, 7 in Biology, and 8 in Maths GCSE.
Experience: 2 years of GCSE tutoring experience
