About Janet
I have just retired from full time teaching in a variety of settings - independent, state and international schools. I still enjoy working with students at secondary level and I have a friendly and successful approach to tutoring. I use a variety of techniques to assess strengths and build confidence.

My approach is to get to know my students and what interests them and then build on their knowledge and enthusiasms to engage them in the learning process. I like to use games and puzzles to keep students on task. I focus on exam technique as well as theoretical knowledge for exam classes.

Both my children would really recommend Janet (and so would I!) She's very patient, mixes up the lessons with teaching and games, and is very good at explaining the problem if they get stuck. I think it speaks volumes that both children (aged 9 and 11) really look forward to her sessions even after a busy day at school!
We found Janet through a family friend and she is an amazing tutor. It is clear over the past three months how much she enjoys working with young people (my daughter) to develop her knowledge skills and confidence. Working remotely can be a challenge to build rapport, but Janet does it with ease. Great empathy,organisation, knowledge, clarity and humour.
