About Melissa
I am a qualified Visual Arts educator and a practising Artist. I have worked as a trainer for a diploma of visual arts - surface design with adult learners. I have also worked leave replacement contracts in several Gold Coast Schools with both junior and senior students. I am active in the Arts community, previously being the Artist in Residence (AiR) at The Walls Art Space, Miami - where I had a solo exhibition title "essential Existence'. I have also been the community AiR at 11th Ave Creative Library Studio space, where I gave circular weaving workshops to participates of all ages. I was also involved in the first round of AiR at The Level Up Studio, which is now located in Coolangatta. I have worked with the Swell Sculpture festival in the past and conducted workshops for school aged children. I've been involved with HOTA and their children's summer series programs. I have good networking relationships and can teach you how to grow your love of art into something more!
Aside from all these experiences I also work at an Art Gallery and conduct my own arts making practice, where I have won and been a finalist in a collection of art prizes, for the full list and to see more of my work head to my website - melissaspratt.com.au or via @create_originate.

I believe the arts is such an important aspect of lifelong learning that engages the expression of individuality. I hold positive involvement at the centre of effective processes and learning, where I focus on building a culture of collaboration, reflection, communication and of course creativity! I value cultivating respectful relationships within a supportive, safe and forward thinking environment, where technology is integrated and professional practise, engagement and team work is achieved.

Melissa Spratt was my Visual Arts Teacher at the Australian Institute of Creative Design in 2018. Melissa always provided me and other class members a understanding of the current assignment with clarification through questions , visual videos, lectures and hands on experience. Melissa is very organised with time management, assessment tasks and any feedback through out class. Melissa encouraged, motivated and taught me how to live like an Artist.
From Melissas guidance, I have managed to enter a few art competitions which i have never done before. Melissa has the knowledge on how to reach your potential. Thanks so much.I am completing a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art Major) and I had the pleasure of being taught by Melissa during my Diploma of Visual Arts. Her teaching style is calm, helpful, informative and encouraging plus her experience as a practising artist offers a wealth of additional knowledge and inspiration. I have no hesitation in recommending Melissa as an exemplary teacher and artist.
Melissa was super encouraging, supportive and knowledgeable in all things associated with art. During my diploma of visual arts Melissa inspired me to delve deeper into my creative side whilst sharing her valuable industry experience within the art community. No matter the lesson Melissa was always ready to teach and and learn, ensuring her students were excelling to there potential. Plus she is super friendly!! I recommend Melissa 100%
She's compassionate, caring and genuinely wants to see her students succeed. She has a wealth of knowledge and wants to share it. I highly recommend Melissa for any form of teaching/leadership position.
As a mature age student and having been in the art industry for a long time, l found Melissa to be a very organised and giving teacher. Her positive approach to learning and teaching is very refreshing.
