About Alex
I am a qualified English teacher with several years of classroom experience as well as extensive online tutoring. I studied English at the University of Leicester (BA) and went on to complete an MSc in Built Environment: Sustainable Heritage at UCL. I have taught students of different ages and abilities, helping them prepare for 11+, GCSEs, and A Levels. I’m approachable and supportive, but also structured and results-focused, and I take pride in building students’ confidence while helping them achieve their goals.

My lessons are well-structured and tailored to each student’s needs. I like to set homework that we can review together online, as this helps reinforce learning and track progress. I also make sure students fully understand what they are covering in class, backing this up with focused revision work. A key part of my teaching is developing strong essay-writing skills and clear writing styles, which are essential for success in English exams. I have extensive experience supporting SEND students and I am confident in adapting my approach to suit different learning styles and abilities. I always meet students where they are, building their confidence step by step and helping them progress at a pace that feels right for them.
