About Josie
Hi! I’m Josie, a qualified English teacher and publishing professional based in London. I have a BA in English Literature from McGill University and several years of experience teaching English to students aged 11–18.
I’m passionate about helping people become more confident with English, whether that means improving grades, writing better essays, developing conversational skills, or simply feeling more comfortable expressing themselves.
After teaching in London schools, I moved into publishing, where I now work with authors and books as part of my day-to-day career. This has given me a strong understanding of what makes writing clear, engaging and effective.
Outside of work, I love travelling, reading, yoga and learning Chinese — so I know first-hand how rewarding (and sometimes frustrating!) cultivating language skills can be.
I’m friendly, patient and genuinely invested in my students. I want lessons to feel enjoyable, while still making sure you see real progress.

I am bursting with an infectious passion for the written word and enjoy sharing this with my students. Meanwhile, my teaching style is supportive and practical. I work out exactly what’s holding you back and build from there, with lessons designed around your goals, interests and learning style.
My background in English Literature (BA, McGill University), teaching, and publishing means I can bring both strong academic knowledge and real-world writing/editing experience to my lessons.
I’m also happy to work with younger students, and I offer a patient, approachable teaching style that focuses on building confidence as well as ability.
First lesson: We’ll discuss what you want to achieve, identify areas to work on and make a plan for future lessons.
