About Bonnie
I am an approachable and reliable science educator with over ten years of secondary-level Biology teaching experience. I value building respectful, inclusive relationships with ākonga and whānau, and I believe a supportive learning environment is essential for student success.
I want to teach because I am passionate about helping students develop curiosity, independence, and critical thinking through inquiry-based science learning. Teaching allows me to share my subject expertise while supporting learners to understand the world around them and grow in confidence as scientific thinkers.

My approach to tutoring is student-centered and inquiry-based. I believe students learn science best when they are actively involved in questioning, investigating, and applying concepts rather than passively receiving information. I use guided inquiry, real-life biological examples, experiments, diagrams, and discussion to help students develop deep understanding and scientific thinking skills.
I differentiate instruction based on students’ abilities, learning styles, and prior knowledge. I regularly use formative assessment, questioning, and feedback to adjust my teaching and support each learner’s progress. I also emphasize scientific language, logical reasoning, and ethical thinking in science.
