About Olin
I’m a motivated and approachable college student with a strong interest in science and education, and I enjoy helping others build confidence in their learning. I want to teach because I understand how challenging subjects like biology, chemistry, and geography can feel, and I know how much of a difference clear explanations and one-to-one support can make. Having recently gone through the exam system myself, I can relate to students’ pressures and learning needs, and I find it very rewarding to see students improve their understanding, skills, and results over time.

I take a clear, student-centred approach to tutoring, focusing on building understanding first and then reinforcing it with exam-focused practice. My lessons are structured but flexible: I start by identifying what the student already knows, explain concepts in a simple, logical way using diagrams and real-world examples, and then work through questions together to apply the material. I encourage students to ask questions at any point and adapt my teaching style to suit how they learn best, whether that’s visual explanations, step-by-step problem solving, or revision summaries.
Each lesson typically lasts one hour, which allows enough time to cover content thoroughly without overwhelming the student. I’m a 21-year-old science student in college, with a strong background in biology, chemistry, and geography, and firsthand experience of the Irish exam system. This helps me teach in a practical, relatable way and focus on what examiners are really looking for. Lessons are suitable for all levels, from junior cycle up to Leaving Cert, and I welcome students of all ages. Sessions can be done online or in person, depending on what suits the student best.
