About Dorsey

I have a master's degree in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. I worked for 22 years as a newspaper reporter. I have 12 years of experience in public relations, managing communications for a variety of clients. In my roles, I have mentored and coached dozens of young writers and communications professionals.

About the lesson

I am a hands-on mentor/tutor. We discuss the project goals, the intended audience, the tone you need to use and the points you want to make. I can help you organize your project, develop an outline and structure the writing project in a clear, concise and compelling way.

Dorsey hired me as a content specialist to support her public affairs role at UC Davis Health. Fortunately for me, I reaped the benefits of her 20+ year career as a reporter and journalist. Dorsey took the time to sit down with me and talk through press releases, web stories, and magazine articles - most editors don't have the patience for that. I am grateful to her for having faith and trust in me, for encouraging me to grow professionally, and for her willingness to teach me. I have no doubt that what I learned from her will empower me in future jobs. If you need support with English and storytelling - Dorsey is the person for you.
