About Josiah
I hold a Ph.D. in Polymer Materials Science from UNC–Chapel Hill and currently work in industry as a Synthetic Polymer Chemist. My academic background also includes a B.S. in ACS Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and an M.S. in Organic Chemistry.
I have extensive teaching experience, including four semesters instructing undergraduate general chemistry laboratories, two semesters of organic chemistry laboratories, and one-on-one tutoring in both subjects.
As a lifelong learner and passionate chemist, I understand that chemistry can be challenging. My teaching approach emphasizes patience, clear explanations, and adapting to each student’s individual learning style. I strive to make complex concepts approachable while helping students build confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and achieve their academic goals.

I hold a Ph.D. in Polymer Materials Science and currently work in industry as a Synthetic Polymer Chemist, specializing in polymer synthesis, materials development, and applied chemistry.
With a strong background in both academic research and industrial R&D, I bring a practical, real-world perspective to teaching chemistry. I also have several semesters of experience teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratories, helping students understand challenging concepts and develop confidence in their scientific abilities.
I offer personalized tutoring in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and polymer chemistry, adapting my teaching approach to each student’s learning style and academic goals.
