About David
As a person with an insatiable curiosity hailing from a family of engineers, I've spent my life learning how to truly understand different subjects. Let me share my love of learning with you!
I received bachelor's degrees in Physics (BS) and Liberal Studies (BA) from Florida International University, and later worked in IT Support, walking my colleagues through their questions and confusion about tech. I tutored for thousands of hours over the years in topics including AP Physics, Chem, Biology, Calc, and Music Theory, and things like object-oriented programming, spreadsheets, many IT-related topics, language-learning, and learning to play piano, to name a few.
Former students and colleagues have described me as patient, attentive, friendly, and well-spoken. You may catch me focusing in while you speak, pinpointing an obstacle, and then coming up with an example, question or exercise to help drive the point home. Nothing is more rewarding to me than watching a student have that "ah-ha!" moment.

I like to say that learning physics is like learning real life magic, except that while a magician can only make you think an object is levitating, a physicist has countless ways to actually make it happen.
In physics, you learn to break problems down to their constituent parts. The same thing applies to learning it. Your physics courses seem scarier than they are until you realize that there's only a few actual concepts you have to learn. My job is to show you how easy they can be!
Most students spend the year getting bogged down by overly complicated examples. With me, you will learn to explain the concepts at play and use your intuition to solve problems before introducing the math. Then with just a few steps, you'll reach an answer which isn't just correct, but feels obvious too.
We'll work through the concepts using your own curiosities about how the world works. Nothing will make a lesson stick better than starting it by wondering how or why something works the way it does. And don't worry if you can't think of an example off the top of your head - I've got plenty! Normal things can behave in strange, counter-intuitive ways sometimes and it's super satisfying to get to the bottom of why.
