About Luis
I hold a Master's Degree in Physics and have taught in international schools for 8 years across all secondary levels and the IB curriculum (MYP and DP).
Throughout these years, I have worked with a wide range of student profiles. Learning from their unique ways of thinking and understanding physics has been key to adapting my teaching, ensuring the subject becomes truly accessible to everyone.
I love seeing that "lightbulb moment" when a student finally clicks with a challenging concept, or gains a fresh perspective on a phenomenon they thought they had always understood.
My main objective is to empower students with the tools to reason through and solve any problem independently, while boosting their confidence and demystifying a subject that often causes so much frustration in students.
For DP and A-level students, my approach is strongly aligned with final exam preparation and the Internal Assessment (IA) in the case of DP students, placing special emphasis on structuring answers according to the specific criteria of the markschemes.

The student is the central focus of the learning process, which always begins by identifying their prior knowledge and addressing any misconceptions.
Ideally, explanations start with a simple experiment or simulation to then analyse the underlying physical phenomena and finally deal with the academic exercises and problems. These exercises are broken down and solved step-by-step to make them manageable and to help the student build confidence.
My goal is not to simply dictate physical or mathematical laws, but to guide students with the right questions so they reach an understanding by themselves. After all, a teacher cannot learn for the student.
