About Gian
I received my PhD in 2021, did research for a year, then decided to pivot towards data science. I have a broad understanding of both theory and practice, and always show how textbook examples may be an oversimplification from the real world. I also like to make tutoring a two-way discussion between me and any students to make sure they are absorbing the information in a way which works for them!

When teaching physics, I first want to learn how my students best learn information. I then focus on real world problems to demonstrate the concepts, as well as how the mathematical equations connect to the concept.
For example, when teaching conservation of energy, I begin with talking about different forms of energy. Then I focus on an example where energy is conserved, and discuss how the real world differs from textbook examples. Finally, I show the limitations of energy conservation in mechanics, and how this leads to concepts of heat and (non-mechanical) energy transfer.
