About Ali
I am a mathematics and physics educator with a PhD in Theoretical Physics and more than 18 years of experience teaching and supporting students at the secondary-school and university levels.
I previously worked as a secondary-school Physics Teacher and later as a Senior Lecturer and Head of a university Physics Department. I currently work within the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, which has also given me current experience in Ontario school environments.
My background includes one-on-one and small-group tutoring, lesson planning, student assessment, curriculum development, and helping students with different learning styles and levels of confidence.
I enjoy making difficult ideas simple, clear, and meaningful. I am patient, supportive, and focused on helping students become more confident and independent learners.

My lessons are built around one simple idea: understand first, memorize only when necessary.
I begin by identifying where the student is actually struggling. Sometimes the difficulty is not the current topic, but an earlier gap in algebra, graphing, fractions, factoring, or problem-solving.
Once I find the gap, I explain the concept step by step using clear language, visual examples, graphs, patterns, and real-life connections. We solve problems together first, then I gradually reduce my help until the student can solve them independently.
I do not want students to simply copy steps or memorize formulas. I want them to understand why the method works, recognize patterns, and become confident solving new problems on their own.
Each lesson is adapted to the student's level, learning style, schoolwork, upcoming tests, and goals.
My goal is not only to improve marks, but to build stronger mathematical thinking, confidence, and independence.
