About Elaine
I am a PhD candidate in Applied Mathematics with one semester left before I graduate. I received my bachelors of science degree in math with a minor in physics and psychology. I skipped a master's degree in math to get my doctorate immediately. As an undergraduate student, I worked for 2+ years at a math tutoring center geared towards K-12th grade. As a graduate student, I worked for 3 years as a graduate assistant where I tutored students, taught 2 courses, and graded for multiple undergraduate courses. From my experience, confidence and patience are the key to getting anyone excited about math no matter where they start from.

The lessons are for all levels of students since I have many years of prior experience with K-12th and undergraduate students. I have also taught two calculus courses for non-technical majors. I have a vast range of tutoring experience with great results. My main goal is to build confidence in everyone's abilities to do math and to do it well. Math is very difficult! But with time and patience, we can get there as a team. First, I like to know where your math abilities start from and what you're currently working on to know how much background information needs to be covered in order to do well in the course you're currently in. Then, we target the details and problem-solving skills so you can tackle many problems that you haven't seen before with confidence.
