About Lara
Having taught a variety of psychology subjects and statistics to university students over the past year, I have accumulated over 1,000 hours of teaching experience. During this time, I have had the pleasure of working with students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds and understand the importance of creating an engaging, respectful, and supportive learning environment. My teaching philosophy focuses on providing my students with the tools to become independent learners. Each session exudes a safe space for students to condense information, collaborate, clarify, and challenge ideas - helping them possess the confidence and knowledge required to achieve their goals. After completing QCAA Psychology in senior school, under the guidance of a supportive and passionate teacher, I found my love for the field and knew I wanted to be that kind of educator for others. I went on to acquire my Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honors) and graduated at the top of my cohort, with first-class standing. I was lucky enough to be awarded the APS prize for my honors thesis on body image perception in eating disorders, which was later published and cited in research advancements. Like most students, I too struggled with the ups and downs of study and needed elements of reassurance and guidance along the way to help me achieve my goals. Now, as a PhD candidate, I want to share my knowledge, skills, and passion for psychology with others who share a similar desire to stay on top of their studies and excel in their chosen field.
