As a psychology major and Tagalog tutor, I adopt a student-centered and interactive approach to teaching, acknowledging that every individual learns differently. I begin each lesson by reviewing the student's current knowledge and goals, assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and tailoring the lesson accordingly. We start with the basics, covering grammar rules, vocabulary, and pronunciation, before moving on to more complex topics such as sentence structure, idiomatic expressions, and conversational practices. What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I encourage students to take an active role in the learning process through discussions, role-playing, and group activities. My lessons are designed for students of all levels, including college students, working professionals, and individuals interested in learning Tagalog for personal or cultural purposes. A typical lesson plan with me includes a warm-up period of casual conversation, followed by a review of grammar rules, vocabulary building, conversation practice, and a wrap-up with review and feedback on progress.
