About Thomas
Currently a final-year English Undergraduate at the University of Oxford, I have been tutoring students since I was 17. Over the past four years, I have gained a huge array of experience tutoring students from 11+ onwards.
I remember when I was at school, the teachers I enjoyed the most were the ones whose love for their subject really shone through. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and I have tried to carry that into my own teaching. I much prefer to work in a focused yet relaxed atmosphere, where we can both speak freely and discuss ideas without the fear of making mistakes. This is what I have tried to do in my lessons - maintaining a chilled-out atmosphere, but at the same time really nailing the detail and the fundamental skills the subject requires.

Having tutored for over 4 years, I have extensive experience tailoring my classes for students of different ages and experiences. I am able to conduct classes specifically geared towards exam success (from 11+ up to A-Level), as well as provide enrichment classes focused on growing a student's skillset over time.
My lessons are 1 hour long, and my ethos is to engage my students as much as possible. Instead of telling my students the answer straight away, I aim to encourage my students to think for themselves. I keep lessons as relaxed as possible, combining discussions with short writing tasks, and practice questions which I have personally curated.
