About David
Hi, I'm David! I'm a second-year PhD student at the University of East Anglia studying 1930s poetry and theatre. I have experience tutoring English as well as working in a high school English department as a classroom assistant. I find teaching students how to approach texts through close reading incredibly enjoyable. The study of literature can sometimes be daunting due to its interpretive nature, but this also means that there is a freedom to express and explore as part of school work that becomes more enjoyable as you develop confidence and subject-specific skills. I also can advise current university students on structuring and planning essays and dissertations as well as proofreading academic writing. In my free time, I enjoy playing and coaching volleyball.

I am a current PhD student at the University of East Anglia having completed a Master's Degree in English Literature (Distinction from the University of Glasgow) and a first-class Undergraduate Degree (also in English Literature, from Edinburgh Napier University). I have experience working in High School English classrooms as well as private tuition and am a registered Associate Tutor at the University of East Anglia. - Experienced tutoring English at GCSE, A-Level, National 4/5, Higher, Advanced Higher, and University level. - 1 hour lessons. - Proof-reading/essay support/academic English tutoring available for Undergraduate and Master's students. Member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme (Scottish DBS).
