About Ashley
Hi! I'm a nursing student with a strong background in mathematics who loves helping students build confidence in their math abilities. I achieved a Band 6 in Mathematics Advanced and an E3 in Mathematics Extension 1 in my HSC, so I understand exactly what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of high school math.
Beyond my academic achievements, my nursing studies have given me excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly and patiently. I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right support and encouragement.

My tutoring approach is built on conceptual understanding first – I ensure students truly grasp the "why" behind mathematical concepts before moving to applications. This reduces reliance on memorization and builds lasting confidence.
I use scaffolded learning, breaking complex problems into manageable steps and gradually releasing responsibility as students gain confidence. Where possible, I connect math to real-world examples (drawing on my nursing background) to show why these skills matter beyond the classroom.
I emphasize a growth mindset, helping students overcome math anxiety by showing them that ability can be developed through effort and practice.
Lesson Structure
Typical length: 1 to 1.5 hours
Format: Online or in-person (as arranged)
Lesson flow:
Review previous work and address questions (5–10 min)
Introduce new concepts with guided practice (30–40 min)
Independent practice with support as needed (15–20 min)
Summary and discussion of next steps (5–10 min)
