About Lexie
Hello! I am currently a student at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and have experience teaching both children and adults. As someone who has grown up using Chinese and continues to work in a strong academic environment, I understand how to balance conversational fluency with exam success.
I am patient, responsible, and well-prepared for every lesson. I tailor my teaching to each student’s level and goals, whether they need school support, exam preparation, or help building confidence in speaking Mandarin. My Approach to Tutoring
I believe language learning should be engaging, structured, and confidence-building. My teaching approach focuses on balancing conversational fluency with strong academic foundations. I tailor each lesson according to the student’s level, learning goals, and pace to ensure steady improvement and long-term understanding.
Teaching Techniques & Methodology
I use an interactive and student-centred approach. For conversational Chinese, I incorporate real-life scenarios, role-plays, pronunciation correction, and vocabulary expansion to build speaking confidence. For exam preparation and school support, I focus on comprehension skills, writing structure, grammar accuracy, and exam strategies. I also provide guided practice, feedback, and review materials after class to reinforce learning.
Typical Lesson Length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes. For younger primary students, 45-minute sessions can also be arranged to maintain focus and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
I am currently a student at the National University of Singapore (NUS) doing an exchange at USYD and have experience teaching both children and adults. I understand how to adapt my teaching style depending on age group and proficiency level, ensuring lessons are effective and enjoyable.
