About Emma
I am a 4th year medical student at the University of Southampton with a Bachelor's in Medical Sciences. I am an easily approachable and friendly tutor with a passion not only for the sciences and maths but for languages also. I have tutored for years with 5 star reviews and multiple students achieving grades high above their predicted grades. I have a strong grasp of what is required to obtain top marks with the new A level specifications. My experience tutoring biology, chemistry, English and Spanish for the past 7 years, with over two hundred completed lessons on MyTutor alone, has also given me a solid grasp on the new GCSE specifications. I also worked as a full-time teacher for several teaching Science and English and have taught undergraduate medical students. My aim is to help my students to develop not only confidence but also enjoy the subject they may presently be struggling with. I also have experience working with students with dyslexia, chronic conditions and autism.

I have always had a passion for science and learning and hope that I can share my enthusiasm and knowledge with the students I tutor. I think that the best way to learn is by really understanding the concepts behind the course content. This will allow you to apply your knowledge to situations you may not have come across in the classroom and will make answering exam questions far less daunting. I therefore tailor my sessions around concepts you find particularly challenging which we can go through together, until you know them inside-out.
Having been taking them for years, I know how scary preparing for and sitting exams can be. Over the years I have found that exam technique is a highly beneficial skill to practice in order to excel in exams. I hope to share my tips and experiences with you to help you answer questions to the best of your ability. We can go through any questions you aren't sure about together and if need be learn how to best answer exam style questions.
While exam practice is really important, I hope that during my sessions you will gain skills and knowledge that you can carry with you throughout your academic career.

Great tutor, really breaks everything down according to spec and makes everything easy to learn. Well informed on all topics and always answers questions fully. Would really recommend if your looking for someone to give you structured and relevant lessons, no matter the time frame till your exams. If you don’t understand she is happy to go through it as many times as you need her to. Always happy and smiley and made me feel very comfortable.
