About Carolyn
I graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology from New York University in 2022 and will begin medical school in fall 2023. Though I chose to study science in college, I have always been passionate about writing and the use of the English language in all parts of life--to document experiences, express emotions, and advocate for others. I have 3 years of experience as an online ESL tutor and taught seminars at the Harvard Summit for Youth Leaders in China. I am skilled in analytical writing and public speaking from my time competing with the NYU mock trial team. I am also proficient in professional writing, having worked in corporate research and clinical documentation. In all of these experiences, I most fondly remember the people I mentored and the progress I witnessed through their hard work. I am excited to get to know you and your goals--and to have the pleasure of thinking with you!

I am a firm believer in individuality and tailoring lessons to suit my students' particular needs. Whether you need help with standardized test prep, editing an essay for college, or want to practice for an upcoming interview, I will take into account your needs and specific feedback requests and tailor the lesson appropriately. For standardized test prep, I work through questions with students to understand their thinking process so that I can help them develop skills and beneficial habits for test day. When editing essays or conducting mock interviews, I like to get to know my students and their goals first--what they want to express to the interviewer or admissions committee--so we can work together on how to showcase their talents in the best light. You can expect a warm and positive environment, but also a teacher who won't hesitate to be honest with you about your progress. I teach anywhere from middle school to college students.
