About Jacob
I worked as a peer tutor during my time at college, helping other students with subjects ranging from algebra to Thermodynamics. It was a great experience; my "students" and I would have an enjoyable time discussing the topic and working out any problems they had with their understanding. It's especially rewarding to me to see them finally get it after being frustrated with it for so long. My favorite part was when one of them came back with an A on their test, thanking me for my help.

When I tutor, I start by getting an idea of the student's current knowledge of the topic, and build off of that. I like to incorporate the textbook they are being taught from, as well as their previous tests and homework assignments as reference material for them to look back on. This way, they can understand what their textbook is trying to teach them, in case I'm not around to interpret it for them. Working problems together is especially useful, as it lets me see their progress and give more focused advice if needed.
