About Thomas
I grew up in Newcastle and was very focused on sport (running, soccer, surfing) until about year 11, when mostly thanks to some great teachers I started to truly enjoy maths and physics (rather than just enjoying the competition of getting better marks).
I completed a double degree (maths + physics) at the University of Newcastle and continued on to do an honours project. Good marks secured a place at the uni of Cambridge where I studied theoretical physics, and now I'm in Hobart working toward a PhD in applied maths plus electrical engineering.

I usually first ask what you've been studying recently and if there are any particular problems that you would like to discuss. Then we can start going through some examples of your choice (or mine if you prefer); we can revise what you've already done in class or look ahead to what you'll be covering next.
A lesson can run for one or two hours, I've found from previous experience that university level tutoring greatly benefits from doubling to two hours, while for HSC and earlier an hour is fine.

Perfect! Tom is a great Year 12 Calculus tutor. He explains concepts clearly, is patient and easy to work with, and makes challenging topics much easier to understand. My child has gained confidence and a much better understanding of the subject. Highly recommended!
