About Florian
I love mathematics. But above all, I love helping others understand it.
I have a PhD in mathematics and then worked for 10 years as a postdoc at universities. During this time, I taught continuously, not only mathematics students but also computer science students, students in various engineering programs, and teacher training students. I did everything from tutorials to lectures, created my own exams (and worked through even more practice problems), administered oral exams, offered emergency help before exams, introduced my own formats such as online assignments with immediate feedback, and assigned and supervised theses (including for teacher training students).
Because of my experience, I am familiar with all the typical problems, not only the mathematical ones but also the linguistic ones. I know what is important in a topic and what isn't. I know what is tested in exams and what isn't. I bring endless patience and enthusiasm. Math with me is fun and effective; my students have always agreed on that. I am respectful and appreciative in my interactions.

I offer math tutoring for university students, primarily for foundational courses like analysis, linear algebra, advanced mathematics, etc. For advanced math students, I'm happy to cover other topics upon request. Tutoring can take place online or in person, individually or in groups of up to six people.
You bring the topics you want to cover, such as exam preparation or review, filling in knowledge gaps, understanding parts of a lecture script, solving problem sets, and so on. If desired, I can create additional practice material or practice exams and even simulate oral or written exams with you.
The goal of the tutoring is always to achieve YOUR goals. If your goal is simply to get ready for the exam and nothing more, then that's exactly what we'll do. However, if you want to really understand a topic or lecture [e.g., integration on submanifolds ;-)], I'm happy to help you with that as well.
You can determine the structure of our session if you wish. I can, for example, exclusively answer your questions, but I can also prepare a lesson on a topic of your choice, perhaps a mix of practice problems and a brief review of the theory.
Naturally, after 20 years as an enthusiastic university lecturer, I have extensive knowledge of the subject matter. But I also know exactly which material is relevant for exams and which isn't. I've worked through and designed many exams myself. I'm familiar with a vast number of difficulties and typical mistakes in all the topics I teach, and can therefore provide you with targeted and rapid assistance.
