About Maya
I have a great deal of experience in tutoring a wide range of ages, and I prioritize connecting with my students. I recently graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry, and I am passionate about making math and the sciences accessible to students of all experiences and interests.

I teach biology, chemistry and math at a middle school or high school level. I have offered tutoring in these subjects for my peers, as well as younger students, since I was in high school myself, and I find it extremely rewarding to watch someone grasp material they've been struggling with.
As a tutor, I would offer personalized help to my students based on their goals: whether that's helping with homework and clarifying difficult concepts from class, or teaching more advanced topics to give them a head start among their peers. I can explain concepts from as many angles as needed, and provide practice problems for us to work through together to help the student acquire ease and comfort with the material.
It would be important to me that my students properly understand what is being taught rather than simply memorizing it, so teaching students how systems and topics connect would be a priority.

Perfect! Maya is an excellent tutor who helped our daughter raise her Algebra2/Trig grades over the final weeks of the semester. She went out of her way to meet our daughter's difficult schedule and was supportive and attentive to her class needs. Maya has been working with my high school daughter for about one month. My daughter really enjoys working with her. She says Maya is very patient and explains concepts well. Maya starts by asking my daughter what she knows about the topic and then builds from there. In the short amount of time that they have been working together, my daughter’s grades have started to improve. Maya is also very responsive and reliable. I highly recommend her!
