About Karen
I am a NYS Math Teacher, 7-12 with degrees in math education from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Rochester, and many years of teaching middle school, high school and college Math students.
I participated in the Algebra Project, training with Dr. Robert Moses at MIT. We used the principles to develop summer camp programs for Rochester City School students. RIT students were trained to be assistant instructors. It was exciting for students and instructors!

My lessons are student centered, focusing on who you are as a math learner.
Using this approach, I created a math support program at RIT that emphasized teaching students individualized strategies for how to learn math more effectively.
Based on your math learning strengths, we explore your skills, conceptual understanding and how you learn mathematics. Together, we develop strategies such as: problem solving,
multi representation, visualizing, prior knowledge connections, misconceptions, innovative math study skills and more. They become your tools for how to learn math with deeper understanding.
