About Lu

I am a qualified and registered teacher in Tasmania with a Master of Teaching from Alphacrucis University and practical experience teaching Mathematics and Mandarin Chinese across primary and secondary school levels. I am passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve their learning goals.

My teaching approach is patient, supportive and tailored to each student's individual needs. I explain concepts clearly, break challenging topics into manageable steps and use practical examples to make learning easier to understand. I believe in creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes and celebrating their progress.

With my diverse academic background in International Economics and Trade and postgraduate studies in Management in Sweden and the United States, I also bring strong analytical, problem-solving and cross-cultural communication skills to my teaching.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching

Teaching Techniques and Methodology

My teaching approach is student-centred, structured and supportive. I believe every student can make progress when concepts are explained clearly, lessons are tailored to their individual needs, and they have opportunities to practise and build confidence.

I use explicit instruction, step-by-step explanations, worked examples, guided practice and independent exercises to help students develop a strong understanding of key concepts. I regularly check students’ understanding, identify learning gaps and adapt my teaching strategies accordingly. I also incorporate visual resources, educational technology, interactive activities and real-world examples to make learning engaging and meaningful.

In Mathematics, I focus on developing conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, problem-solving skills and confidence. In Mandarin Chinese, I integrate vocabulary, pronunciation, pinyin, Chinese characters and practical communication activities to help students apply their learning in everyday situations.

Typical Lesson Length

My standard tutoring session is 60 minutes, although lesson length can be adjusted to suit the student's age, learning needs and goals. A typical lesson includes reviewing previous learning, introducing or explaining new concepts, practising skills together, completing independent tasks and reviewing progress.

Qualifications and Experience

I hold a Master of Teaching from Alphacrucis University and am a qualified, registered teacher in Tasmania. I have experience teaching Mathematics and Mandarin Chinese (LOTE) across primary and secondary year levels in Tasmanian schools.

My academic background also includes undergraduate studies in International Economics and Trade and postgraduate studies in Management in Sweden and the United States. This multidisciplinary background supports my analytical thinking and enables me to connect mathematical concepts with practical, real-world applications.
