About Kira Phoenix
I graduated from Central St Martins in 2010 and The Royal College of Art in Glass and Ceramics, with a distinction for my thesis, in 2015. I continue to work as an artist and run my own studio in Wimbledon, London.
I have lived in and travelled to many countries around the world and gained insight into different ways of life.
I have always enjoyed helping and supporting those around me and it brings me great joy to be able to bring that same energy to all my students, and their studies.
As a tutor I have always enjoyed working with students over a longer period so we can build a strong working relationship that is nurturing and confidence building.

I have been working as a Tutor and Mentor since 2009. During this time, I have had the pleasure to work with students from various backgrounds. My approach to teaching is an holistic one. I make sure we cover all areas of study whilst combining the student's individual interests. I like to create a very exciting and enjoyable educational programme that is engaging and confidence building. I use a variety of teaching aids, including educational videos, documentaries and discussions. I find these different methods of learning help to clarify the students' thoughts, making it easier to get their ideas down on paper. I also want to encourage each student to bring their personal interests into their creative writing.
To aid in each student's organisational skills I will help them create clear and easy to follow schedules, step by step tasks to complete a piece of work, develop reading strategies and use visual learning tools.
To help prepare each student for their English exams I would want to take each student through a series of revision tasks, practice papers and discussions.
I have also collated an ‘English Handbook’ that will aid in the study of English and will be shared with the student during the first session via a dedicated and secure google drive they will have access to. It is also crucial that the student allocates additional time towards developing their reading and writing skills outside of the sessions. This process also helps to be prepared to work independently. I have experience of all the England based exam boards and would be able to tailor the classes to this student's needs. I am also able to supply successful case studies.

INITIAL CHAT
Before we book in any regular sessions I like to book an Initial Chat over zoom that last for 30 minutes. This is a great way for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you may have, discuss what you would like to achieve and set goals. The Initial Chat is charged at half the hourly rate.
HOURLY RATE
Pre-GCSE Prep: £55 per/hr
GCSE: £60 per/hr
A-LEVEL: £65 per/hr
University Portfolio Preparation: £70 per/hr
University: £75 per/hr
Masters: £80 per/hr
Mature Students: £85 per/hr
TUTORING DAYS & TIMES
Tuesdays, sessions times run from 9am - 8pm
Wednesdays, sessions times run from 9am - 8pm
Thursdays, sessions times run from 9am - 8pm
Saturday mornings, sessions times run from 10am - 4pm, in person at my studio for art subjects only.
*PLEASE NOTE: All sessions will be taking place on Zoom, unless you live a walkable distance. I only take on new students who are looking for weekly tuition with a minimum of 1 hour per session, unless otherwise requested. I run a first come first serve service for session booking. I will send a list of days/times that I have available
