About Gavin
I have experience tutoring. I first started tutoring privately with a young high schooler worried about his future education. This involved a lot of college prep and giving insight into my experience going through the beginnings of University. I have also done 2 semesters as a University tutor, this gave me useful skills and technics for group tutoring and tutoring more complex topics.

I apply active learning through my teaching and avoid doing the work for my tutees. I always try to provide different ways to approach a problem and the core tenets of becoming a successful student. My typical lesson plan consists of 5-10min of catchup and getting an understanding of where the tutee is in their coursework and how they feel about what they are learning. My lessons tend to try to reinforce good habits, so they often involve trying out different study strategies. My goal as a tutor is not just to get my tutees through their current class, but to get them to a place where they can comfortably tackle difficult coursework without a tutor.
