About Jacob
Hi, I’m Jacob, an Aerospace Electronic Engineering student at the University of Southampton. I’ve always really enjoyed maths and physics, and I want to help others feel the same way. I’ve also found them difficult at times, so I understand the challenges students face and aim to provide the guidance needed to overcome them and reach their full potential.
As a former Maths and Physics Prefect, I supported GCSE students in lessons and ran intervention sessions, and I found it really rewarding seeing students improve and gain confidence. Having recently gone through GCSEs and A-Levels myself, I understand the pressures students face and how to manage them. I’m keen to help students not only improve their grades but also feel more confident in their learning. I’m also happy to support students with any wider challenges they may be facing at school.

My approach is all about building confidence and making learning enjoyable. I start by explaining concepts clearly, then work through problems together before gradually allowing students to become more independent so they can confidently tackle past paper questions. The lessons are interactive and engaging, taught online via Zoom/Teams using a shared whiteboard, and typically last between 30 minutes and 2 hours - whatever the student's preference.
I am now an Aerospace Electronic Engineering student at the University of Southampton. As a former Maths and Physics Prefect at my secondary school, I’ve supported GCSE students directly in their lessons and led intervention sessions, helping them improve both their understanding and confidence. At GCSE, I achieved 8 Grade 9s (including Maths, English Literature and Language and the three sciences), along with A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I’ve found it really rewarding to see students improve their grades, and I’m genuinely excited to help more students reach their full potential.
In addition, having recently gone through GCSEs, A-Levels, and now university, I understand the academic journey students are on. I’m always happy to offer guidance on subject choices, exam preparation, or university applications, and to provide support with any school-related questions.
